Farm first, then you add+ value added products+Direct marketing+Agritourism
Direct marketing in any form can provide a diversified income stream; yet its not for all agriculture producers as it doesn’t fit their business model nor should it be a one size fits all method. Do what works for your situation.
This ride will be fun…On Thursday January 12th, 2012 Big Island Farm Bureau along with our earned income project “Hawaii AgVentures” is hosting the Texas Farm Bureau delegation for 8 hours of farm tours and a Paniolo Luncheon at Parker Ranch. It’s become a whirlwind of details and logistics for our organization.
The size of their delegation is almost as big as our entire Island membership list, not quite but close! They do it big in Texas but we do it with Aloha!
Were taking a fleet of motor coaches on a wild ride from Waikaloa to Big Island Abalone then on to Kona Joe’s Coffee & Greenwell Farms, then were off to Parker Ranch, Pukalani stables where we get the pleasure of corralling Keoki Woods & Dr. William (Billy) Bergin…I could listen to either gentlemen speak all day! Then its lunch & talk story time then were off to explore Hamakua Macadamia Plantations…Now I’m craving Mac Nut Popcorn ….Not good!
